Currently, the electricity consumption information collection systems—also known as remote meter-reading systems—used by State Grid and China Southern Power Grid include a master station data server platform, concentrators, meter terminals or data collector terminals, a remote network connecting the concentrators to the master station (typically utilizing GPRS/3G/4G networks), and a power-line carrier (PLC) local network linking the concentrators to the meters or collectors, as illustrated below. BoviaX’s meter-reading solution leverages the PLC local network to communicate directly with meters via the grid’s distribution lines, eliminating the need for dedicated wiring and making installation and maintenance particularly convenient. Additionally, the system can be equipped with the company’s newly developed 4G module, effectively addressing communication challenges between the master station and concentrators.

In this solution, the local PLC network is either a narrowband PLC network or a dual-mode PLC/RF network. Based on its advanced technology and market-leading high-performance narrowband high-speed PLC chip BW1600, as well as the dual-mode chip BW1601, Bovia provides a comprehensive local communication solution for remote meter-reading systems. This solution delivers stable and reliable meter-reading performance, with fast speeds and a high success rate—and has already been extensively deployed in real-world applications. As a result, it has become a widely adopted chip and solution choice for domestic electricity consumption data collection systems.
